I have a clean record and use Amica. Haven't had to use them yet, but they get outstanding reviews and are priced well because they only insure low risk drivers (lower the risk of the driver pool, the lower the insurance premiums).
I did one time use the windshield protection coverage, but that is handled by a third party, even though I pay for it through the same policy. It was super easy. Made an appointment with my service center (BMW), got confirmation that a rock chip on the windshield was not going to be overlooked by a lease return specialist since it was on the path of the wiper blades, so it had to be replaced rather than fixed. Service center quoted way too much for the service, but the insurance company simply paid it. Bought some goodwill with my service advisor, I'm sure.
Probably not going to save you a ton of money, but the service I get makes me feel good that if I ever need to use it, it won't be an outright hassle.
