That sounds about right. Back when I was in college my local shop had a ferrrari 308 ( the magnum P.I model that's " relatively affordable " ) in the shop for months. Turned out a young guy had bought it for around 30-35k and it was a " bargain". 6 months later the clutch failed. It was about a 15k job and required removing the motor or something crazy. The owner was struggling to make the payment of course so the car sat at their shop for months.
Yeah you have to drop the motor and tranny, makes it sooo much easier. Ha. Figures an Italian would come up with such a crazy way to do it.

I just hear it now.... "We will make it impossible to do your own clutch without a full lift & drop. Yes, wonderful, so brilliant you are Tony. Thanks Mama!"
