I'm not an expert, but my perception is you're choosing an eotech because they set the standard for reliability. IMO the average civilian should consider if other optics are better suited for their expected usage pattern. Even if you like a holographic sighting system, there's other options out there. I know Vortex has one that is potentially a better option.

Eotech actually got in trouble for lying about their reliability to Uncle Sam. They were losing zero in the cold for our soldiers and stuff. Eotech is not what they were twenty years ago. Aimpoint is the top dog in red dots (holo or not), but I was happy to sell my T2 and go with another Romeo5.
I'm not trying to dissuade anyone. Just some info. A lot of ppl didn't care and still like using their eotechs. I have an old 511 on an early-2000s M4A1 build of mine that I really like.
