Your son will have the time of his life whether he is driving your f30 or his Mazda. I promise that. I would recommend you take both cars as well and maybe switch cars for a session to change things up.
My first ever track day was at sonoma raceway and I did the full day in aa bone stock 101bhp fiat 500. Till this day, it is still one of my most memorable and most fun times ever on a track. There's something to be said about being able to take a car to its absolute limits!
The kicker, the fiat 500 was my rental car while visiting San Francisco hahaha
