Hrmm...I suppose if you're REALLY serious about getting that car (which I wouldn't be surprised if you were, since Alpine White is pretty rare!), I'd probably fly out to the states to check it out in person, test drive it, schedule with the seller to get a pre-inspection done, etc.
Then if you like it, put down a deposit and sign a self-drafted sales contract perhaps with some witnesses.
Otherwise, unfortunately, you're just going to have to take his word for it =/
