I did not. I do not have a code reader or anything like that. When I searched around on forums, some people said they drove it around and after awhile it automatically registered.

Someone else mentioned the Battery Safety Terminal as well when I asked this in another forum. To be honest, I'm not sure what that is. I just watched several "how to" videos on changing a battery on 328i, and I double-checked to make sure I didn't skip a step.

I went out and took these pictures to show everything I did:

Put the 10mm bolt back on the terminal and the 13mm bolt back on the other post. Breather tube is back in.


Didn't remove this 13mm bolt, some people just left it on for the install, some people took it off and then reconnected it. Just showing that mine is still connected.


The large blue clip is clipped back in to the slot with the blue dot, and the other large clip is clipped into the first slot.


Negative terminal 10mm is back on and the small blue clip is plugged back in.
Car battery does not automatically register after driving around a while.
