Two comments for user of firestick/kodi + apps for stuff that shouldn't be free.
1. Someone is always watching. Even with a VPN there is risk.
2. More importantly god only knows what are in all those packages that get installed. I'd keep a close eye on your traffic at the router.
Given the above and that piracy funds some very shady stuff for me it's worth it to buy the UHD BD or HD BD.
And in a decade or so you'll have something that will be valuable-physical ownership of media.
