All parking brake systems have some sort of self-adjuster. I do not know how the BMW one works, but many adjust when you go in reverse and use the brake...so, I'd find a safe place and try backing up and hitting the brakes hard a few times and see if it gets better.
It won't hurt, and may solve it. Somebody probably knows for sure and may pop in, but give it a shot.
