I have the BMW one. It doesn't get more obvious than that. If there was an award for worlds biggest dash cam. I used some black electrician tape and cut to cover part of the silver lens housing so it is not so obvious.
I guess with anything on display there is a risk of theft.
Some dash cams are wifi compatible and some even offer cloud recording. So it would depend on the scum taking chances... whether they would rather not.
