Both completely different...

Balvenie Doublewood 12 is very light and matured in 2 different woods... i.e. 2 different casks. This will be closer to Macallan Double Cask 12 (blue box) which is aged in a European and American Sherry Cask.

The Macallan 12 or Sherry Oak 12 (black box) is just one cask... the European Sherry cask. This cask is far more stronger in taste and is considered the classic taste. The sherry is my favorite but it's not for everyone.
Thanks. When you say it's not for everyone why is that? What should I look out for, considering it is around 75 I don't want to waste it on something I may not like. I did watch some reviews too on it.
