I wanted to plastidip my chrome handles black (to match the black line), but I could not spray on the the handle and peel back to reveal a crisp line. So I decided to remove them and paint them off the car.

Here is what I did:
First, get a plastic pry tool (I used this one):
Carefully pry the front end of the chrome piece out:
NOTE: FRONT OF CAR IS TO THE LEFT
Then feed some dental floss through the gap and drag from front to back to unstick the double sided tape that holds the chrome trim piece to the handle.
Once the tape has been separated, you need to push the chrome trim forward (toward the front of the car) so that the rear of the chrome trim can clear its key way. Be careful to not snap the plastic fins trying to remove it.

Next, use goo gone to remove the tape from both the handle and trim.
Paint the chrome as desired and install 3M double sided mounting tape to the trim.
Re-installing is easy enough: Peel back enough (1/2" or so) of the tape backing nearer the front (smaller clip) and fold over so that when it is installed, you can grab it. Slide the rear tab back into its key way and snap in the front clip. Grab the tab you made and peel from the front of the trim piece to the rear. Apply plenty of pressure to bond the two pieces together and you are done!
Mine have been plastidipped for about a year now and it has not peeled at all, even though the car is washed about two to three times a week at a regular, non-touch free car wash.
