Lightbulb Brakes buying decision helper: "Factory", "M Sport Brakes", "M Performance Brakes"

BMW just confuses us customers/drivers with all those possible brake options.
I hope this will bring some light into brake dust of F3x brakes!

The following link takes you to a Onedrive Excel list where I list all the F3x Modells and all the brake variants (standard and options) until the 335i Engine model.
I did not do an update for the engine change models like 340i. Just too much work. However look up the origial brake size of your model in sites like realoem (link far below)
https://1drv.ms/x/s!AqdJMMUQxA-nhZs6_JWYyQG6amQ0jA

Original Brakes Variant 1:
Front rotor: 300x22mm (Millimeter) / Brake Caliper with 1 piston
Rear rotor: 300x20mm / Brake Caliper with 1 piston

Original Brakes Variant 2:
Front rotor: 312x24mm (Millimeter) / Brake Caliper with 1 piston
Rear rotor: 300x20mm / Brake Caliper with 1 piston

Original Brakes Variant 3: Cars with Sport Package P337A = YES
Front rotor: 330x24mm (Millimeter) / Brake Caliper with 1 piston
Rear rotor: 300x20mm / Brake Caliper with 1 piston
(some cars show also to have 330x20mm Rear rotor with this upgrade)

Original Brakes Variant 4: 335i, 335d or Cars with Reinforced Brakes S102A = YES
Front rotor: 340x24mm (Millimeter) / Brake Caliper with 4 piston
Rear rotor: 330x20mm / Brake Caliper with 1 piston

Option (Factory upgrade) with S2NHA M Sport Brakes (blue colored):

S2NHA Variant 1: all not listed under Variant 2
Front rotor: 340x30mm (Millimeter) / Brake Caliper with 4 piston
Rear rotor: 345x24mm / Brake Caliper with 2 piston

S2NHA Variant 2: (all 335i/d Version, Europe Version of 325d, 328i, 330d)
Front rotor: 370x30mm (Millimeter) / Brake Caliper with 4 piston
Rear rotor: 345x24mm / Brake Caliper with 2 piston

Option of Dimple drilled and slotted rotor:
For all the original brakes with 340mm rotors, one can buy aftermarket original BMW replacement brake rotors in dimple drilled and slotted flavor.

For the factory upgrade with S2NHA M Sport Brakes (blue colored) one can also buy aftermarket original BMW replacement brake rotors in dimple drilled and slotted flavor.
Available Front Size 340mm and 370mm (18" Wheels needed with 370mm rotor in Summer and Winter!!)
Rear rotor: 345mm (all models)

So and now what about the "M Performance Brakes"?
For a "high power" car owner (Europe 328i, 335i, 330d, 335dx):
Basically they are the same as if one would order the S2NHA option and then aftermarket change to the rotors to the BMW replacement brake rotors in dimple drilled and slotted flavor.

For a "low power" car owner (models below 328i, 325d or US Model 328i):
It's a much bigger upgrade. As they get 370mm front rotors instead of just a 340mm front rotors they would get by the S2NHA Sport Brake Option for those models.

So if one is looking for dimple drilled and slotted front and rear rotors, and brake rotors with 370mm in front and 345mm in rear. M Performance Brakes is your choice.
They come in different caliper colors: Yellow, Orange, Red

M Performance Brakes need 18" Wheels in Summer and Winter

M Performance Power Kit (for 330d and 335dX only):
Needs a brake upgrade to S2NHA M Sport Brakes or 18" M Performance Brake!
