The basic difference i could see were the rectile, and information shown/provided. Obviously the line-of-sight distance will be the same, but I wonder if they account for elevation the same way though.
Golf GPS make elevation reading an option. Most do not have it as it is illegal in tournament play.

But next time I go shooting in the desert I'll bring my range finder. Always nice to know if it's 100 yards or 150.
