In California we passed a law that bans the plastic bags that the grocery stores would give out for free. Those cheap plastic bags will work OK on the stock hooks. Most people have now purchased bags more like the one pictured, with wider nylon/canvas straps, which don't work very well with the flimsy stock hooks. If you don't bring your own bag, another related law dictates that the store can charge you at least $0.10 for a slightly more durable, re-usable bag.
