And yet it's one of the hottest selling BMW, surpassing the 3 Series. "At least in the US Market". They have to produce these types of vehicles, that's what sells. I know it just boggles the enthusiast mind, but you have to look at the whole picture. They must do this, so they can cater to the enthusiasts which is a niche market.
