Simply because there's demand for a four-door that's smaller than a current 3 series. My issue with the car is what's on offer for the msrp. It's essentially a fwd/awd, hot hatch with a turbo 4. I agree with the sentiment that one can get a gti, golf r, civic type r, wrx, the Hyundai hot hatch (forget the name) or a used focus rs, for much less coin. Maybe they're less refined, but often, those interested in this segment aren't as focused on that. What is the 2gc offering for the higher msrp that can't be had for much less from a competing make/model?
