Seriously. How many times are you going to stop in the middle of a road or at a red light, press some buttons, floor the gas while completely stopped and launch like you have somewhere to be yesterday?
I used my launch control in my S4 DSG once in 3 years. The day that I sold it for my manual M3, and it was only because I realized that I had never experienced it for myself, so better late than never.
People don't drive like that. I could see it as a 1/4 mile track feature but how many people are really buying it for the 1/4 mile?
The case for a good automatic vs a manual is there, but launch control is so far down the list of reasons when you look at the whole picture of owning a street car and what you're using it for.

Agree, the obsession with horsepower and 0-60 numbers is one of the reasons that newer cars are getting worse and worse and more numb/less engaging than before.
