I think there are 2 groups of consumers looking at cloth seats
1. Lowest cost
2. Best grip and weight savings for track
Bmw clearly answered group 2 with the carbon buckets
I doubt bmw cares about group 1 as they represent a tiny fraction of buyers for a premium vehicle, you can also probably lump in other rare need states like "i don't find leather comfortable" or "I am morally opposed to leather"
