Apart from the visual cues, like flared arches, domed hood, quad pipes and side sills; I think it is more important to make sure the M1 have direct throttle, non-RFT, right suspension geometry, and M-Diff. On top of that, with weight reduction expected from lightweight material that shifts centre of gravity lower, and better torque and power; it is not only going to be faster off the line, it would also be much quicker round a track.

isn't the M3 V8 engine pretty much the same weight as the outgoing 3.2L I6? can't remember where i heard that but thought i did..
and the bottom stuff is a given for a M-car!
for me, personally.. i'd prefer a high revving V8 M3 over a hypo turbo inline 6... but can't comment until the car is released and i've wrangled a test drive
