Wow. You must be around my vintage. I bought mine in '85, a '76 320 in glorious golf yellow. It did turn it to be a bit of a dodgy car with reliability issues but then I got another a couple of years later. Again golf yellow but this one has those tiny gold BBS Mahle wheels. It was a joyous car to drive and I will forever have a soft spot for it. Beautiful looking car too.
I later had a 2002 in Colorado with the round tail lights. That was also a delight but I still think the e21 trumped it. Maybe as it was my first car and there's that irrational bond.
And yes, those US bumpers were horrifying!
