No big deal. You can easily change the standard shifting arrangement via swapping a couple of wires around in the steering wheel. Problem solved.
I have already done this so that it works like the GTI above only after the second day I got my car. I hated how BMW had it arsed wrong way around, wasnt natural.
There is a great DIY on this.
