Fuse #46 is the same (cigarette lighter) in my M340i as the X3.

I just installed my uniden r3 using the mirror tap method. Removing the plastic trim and connector are the hardest parts. Took about 15-20 total. Very easy. Thank you OP for the steps and pics.
