If the insurance agency learns that you’re getting paid for gigs, and your gear is not insured for professional work, then any claims may be rejected. As for keeping your guitar always by your side, it just so happens that, statistically speaking, guitars at rock/pop/country/folk/etc. gigs are some of the most-often stolen instruments, according to my insurer.
