Why would it be more profit? Unlike the X3 that's also built in SA, the X5 is only built in SC for the US and other major markets (besides China and I think India). It's not like they're holding production from the US to ship elsewhere.

So yes, a parking lot full of vehicles only produced in one place waiting for a boat makes sense. BMW isn't going to waste money on shipping expenses by not sending as many vehicles as possible at one time. That also means our brethren overseas may have to wait a little longer if their vehicle misses a boat.
