I already decided that next time I go I'll lock the car and put the key in a faraday pouch (that I already have) so that whatever I'm doing to trigger it to open should be ignored due to it being locked.

I have comfort kick to open, but have never had an issue with the jetwash opening the tailgate even with the key in my pocket.
