Just so you don't think you are insane, I heard the rattle as you noted.
You do need to be careful as in my experience with rattles, the car can actually transmit sounds from the back to the front and front to back.
In my E90 I suddenly experienced a rattle at high speed and would have bet my life on it the sound was coming from the driver's side floor area. Turned out to be that I had used the sun visor to block the sun out on the driver's side window and when I swang it back I hadn't clipped it back back in and the arm was rattling against the locking clip....it did my head in for a week before I realised what was going on.
