I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. I tried all sorts of high performance tires on my 2001 330Ci. It came with the original Michelin Pilot Sports. Great tire except when it rained! I tried tires from Bridgestone and Yokohama. Ho hum. Finally tried a set of MPS2 tires. I’ve never looked back.
