Can't help on software version (sorry) but just to say that I was told by local dealer I had to pay for complete software update if I wanted it done. Anyway I tried to do the Bluetooth update by USB but iDrive wouldn't accept (error) so booked car in after 3 USB's failed - long story short car went in & I went to collect later & they hadn't sorted the issue. Kicked off & then to be fair they stepped up & offered me complete update FOC
Must admit car is running great & nice little touches on sat-nav / radio displays etc. Some things do get wiped = they retrieved iphone settings, most pre-sets wiped thou...
P.s. They do show a print-out of which version car was running & what's installed when they've finished, mine showed 2017/07 version..
