Customers who want a wagon here buy the X3, simple as that. They build X3's in the USA, so there is a lot less overhead and no import taxes, so why cut into your wagon production allocation if it's going to be a zero-sum game with your own product that can't be sold in other markets?
The only reason to go wagon over SUV is driving dynamics, but even then with ridiculously low speed limits (in some states) and dumb American's who want "safety" and "AWD" are not going to stray from SUV's, even with gas prices hiking.
