Staggered 18” wheels

Hey, first post so go easy on me.

Recently acquired a G21 with the M Performance red brake callipers. I need to know if a staggered 18” wheel\tyre combo (M Sport wheels) will fit over the brakes before I commit to buying them.

Any help appreciated

Thanks.

Hello, first post for me too

My winter set is staggered (18” BMW 790M Wheels).

They fit over the M Sport Brakes (which came as standard on my 2023 G20 LCI M340i). Mine are Red, but I wouldn’t use that to identify which ones you have, as the larger brakes can also have red calipers.

Above the M Sport brakes there are two more options, both with the larger 374mm disc at the front. One is the ‘M Performance’ one, which is part of the M Performance Accessory range, which I believe you can’t spec from factory, so has to be ordered and fitted separately. The other seems to be part of a ‘Track Package’ (ZTK) in other markets, but it doesn’t look like it’s available in the UK for the 3 series. These are available on the G42 2 Series M240i here in the UK, but I didn’t think they were ever a factory option for the G20/G21. Although I could be mistaken.

Anyway, these are the specs of the 790M wheels and tyres I run:

Front: 7.5Jx18 ET25 – 225/45 R18 95Y XL
Rear: 8.5Jx18 ET40 - 255/40 R18 99Y XL

More info about the brakes here:

The 796M wheels in a staggered set up will also fit fine over the M Sport Brakes. But I have no idea if other 18” wheels will.

Hope this helps.

That’s a really useful reply! Thanks. 👍

Turns out the wheels are also 790M’s and exactly the same size as yours! They’re going so cheap I’m willing to take a chance. If they won’t go over the brakes, I can always sell them on later. 🤗

790M wheels fit fine over the M Sport brakes (not that you can easily tell which brakes they are in this picture).

Red calipers or blue calipers are the same size as far as I'm aware.
Original M Sport brakes were blue then red was the standard colour for the M lite cars but with the option of having original blue ones instead which I did on my MY 2021 G32. My current MY2022 G32 has red because the optional blue ones were no longer offered.
As Xenon said above 18" alloys clear them no problem!
